SWFObject.NET is a custom ASP.NET server control that wraps the functionality of the SWFObject JavaScript file written by Geoff Stearns over at
deconcept.
As stated on the deconcept website, 'SWFObject is a small Javascript file used for embedding Macromedia Flash content. The script can detect the Flash plug-in in all major web browsers (on Mac and PC) and is designed to make embedding Flash movies as easy as possible.'
SWFObject.NET offers this functionality to ASP.NET developers in a easy to use, drag-and-drop ASP.NET server control with full Visual Studio .NET™ 2005 design time support. The SWFObject.NET provides server side access to your Flash® movie within the .NET Page and therefore provides dynamic runtime access to set Flash® movie parameters and variables.
- Full Visual Studio .NET™ design time support, including Smart Tags.
- All SWFObject client-side variables exposed as .NET Properties.
- Ensures single JavaScript file inclusion.
- Attempts to include client-side JavaScript in header, if not successful it will be included in-line.
- Seperate SWFObjectJScript server control for Master Page inclusion.
- All resources are deployerd within a single managed dll.
- Option to include a 'Get Flash Player' image, that links to the Adobe® download page.
- Strongly typed Flash Player variable types through .NET enumerations.
Note: If you want to see it in action, disable JavaScript in your browser and refresh this page.
